What is Preschool? Preschool is a program that precedes Pre-Kindergarten. Our Preschool program is designed generally for children 3 to 4 years of age. Our classroom is set up according to centers and with lots of open areas for them to play and explore. We also play and explore outside on our playground designed just for children their age. Teachers help guide students with structured activities as well as free play. We work on developing skills such as: pre-literacy (letter recognition, name recognition) and pre-math (noticing simple patterns and sorting) while learning how to work with their peers.

Welcome Pre-K Families! Pre-K is a program designed to prepare students ready for Kindergarten, with the general age range at 4-5 years old. The program involves routine, sensory activities, fine/gross motor exercises, language, writing, pencil grip, early mathematics, science/social studies exploration, and a more structured classroom environment to allow children an easy transition into their elementary school years. With hands-on learning, exploration of different subjects, and real-life applications, the children will learn to be independent and find excitement in learning. With the structured environment, there is always time for play. Play is an integral piece of a child's development as it encourages the children to learn how to work with others, practice different muscle groups, and the start of print and phonemic awareness.
I have a tremendous passion of teaching and being with children. I have taught in an educational environment for more than 30 years including operating my own day care that I always ran like a preschool. I also worked in several private and community preschools. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from with an endorsement in Special education. I have numerous certificates in various reading and math programs as well as autism training and behavioral management. Teaching phonics and reading are my favorite. I have been fortunate enough to assist many struggling students to be fluent and grade level readers.
I’m originally a Michigander with roots in Howell and the U P. My two sons and their wives have enriched my life with 4 grandchildren. I love being a Nana and on my time off I enjoy travelling, camping, being on the water, and walking, just to name a few.
I am so excited to get to and work together with you and your child this coming year! Those Pre-K skills are so important and so is your child’s wellbeing. I believe the Prekindergarten age is the perfect time to impact a child’s life in a positive way. I can’t wait to assist them in having a successful school year! My door is always open if you have questions or concerns.
